Thermogravimetry
(TG) determines the mass change of a sample as a function of temperature
or time. It is the ideal tool, especially for quality control and assurance
as well as for failure analysis of complex polymer mixtures and blends.

The TG 209 F1 Iris®,
and the new DSC 204 F1 Phoenix® together offer an identical platform
for a new generation of instruments due to their unique design and revolutionary
flexibility.
The Micro-Thermobalance covers a temperature range from 10 to 1000°C
and features a standard furnace sealing mechanism. It comes equipped
with the AutoVac® automatic evacuation and gas filling system. This
guarantees measurements in a vacuum, for example, to achieve a reduction
of the boiling point of lower molecular substances. An electronic flow
control system enables a precise flow of the various reaction and protective
gases.
F1 can be equipped with the ASC (automatic sample changer) with which
up to 64 sample crucibles can be employed automatically in any user-defined
succession. For unstable samples, a piercing device is available which
opens the tightly closed aluminum crucibles immediately before starting
the measurement. An individual measuring and evaluation macro of the
modern 32-bit Proteus® software can be assigned to each sample.
The same platform, the identical housing, and the compatible ASC can
also be employed for the DSC 204 F1 Phoenix®, which features an
ideal thermoanalytical supplement to the TG 209 F1 Iris®.
The simultaneous coupling of a mass spectrometer (MS) and Fourier Transform
Infrared (FTIR) spectrometer to the TG 209 F1 Iris® is unique, even
when using an automatic sample changer.
